About the Artist
Martin Kremer has been working with glass for more than 30 years. He has experience blowing glass with several Hudson Valley studios in New York, and workshops in blown and fused glass at Penland School in North Carolina, Urbanglass in New York, and the Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. His inspiration for the stunning forms, colors, and textures in his fused glass vessels come from a variety of sources including Native American fabrics, Italian masonry, classic American quilts, and wood marquetry. Fusing, or kilnforming, is an ancient technique that starts with the arrangement of pieces of glass set up cold, then fired in a kiln to fuse the pieces together. Grinding, sandblasting, and polishing complete the piece. Kremer works out of his home in North Yarmouth, ME.
